Set up PFX HTF.One calm step at a time.

By the end, PFX HTF is finding gaps on a higher timeframe and drawing them, with signal levels, on your own NinjaTrader chart. It never places an order: it only draws and alerts, and every decision stays yours. Take your time. There's no wrong speed.

You can't break anything doing this.

HTF is an indicator. It can't buy, sell or touch your account. If a step doesn't look like the picture, that's normal: open the "Not seeing it?" box under it.

Before you start

Four quick things. Tick them as you go.

Pick minute bars

When you open a chart, its Data Series must use Minute bars. A value of 3 gives a 3-minute chart.

Chart · Data Series
SettingChoose
TypeMinute
Value3
Minute bars only
Why minute bars? HTF looks for gaps on a higher timeframe (15 minutes by default), then times the entry on your chart's own minute bars. It builds that higher timeframe itself.
1

Download the pack

One zip, about 250 KB.

  1. Open the PFX HTF page and press Download free · v1.04.
  2. Find PFX_HTF_NT8_Pack.zip in your Downloads folder.
  3. Right-click it → Extract All… → Extract.
You should see a folder with these files:
.zipPFX_HTF_NT8.zip.mdQUICKSTART.md.htmlSETTINGS.html.mdREADME.md.mdCHANGELOG-PUBLIC.md.xmltemplates\HTF MGC 3m FINAL.xml.xmltemplates\HTF MNQ 3m FINAL.xml
Don't extract the inner zip. PFX_HTF_NT8.zip stays zipped: NinjaTrader imports it as it is in the next step.
Not seeing it?

Windows says the download might be unsafe. That warning appears for any new file from a small website. Choose Keep.

I can't find the zip. Press Ctrl + J in your browser to open your downloads list, then click the folder icon.

2

Import it into NinjaTrader

NinjaTrader unpacks and compiles it for you.

  1. In the Control Center: Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On…
  2. Pick PFX_HTF_NT8.zip (the inner zip) and press Open.
  3. Restart NinjaTrader if it asks.
Control Center
MenuChoose
ToolsImport
ImportNinjaScript Add-On…
Pick PFX_HTF_NT8.zip
Only the inner zip. Don't pick the big pack zip you downloaded; pick the file inside it. HTF installs alongside PFX SLM if you already have it: they don't clash.
Not seeing it?

I don't see Import. It's in the Tools menu of the Control Center (the main window), not inside a chart.

Windows blocked it ("Smart App Control"). Windows can occasionally block new NinjaScript files. Send us a message and we'll walk you through it.

I see a compile error. Copy the red text and send it to us.

3

Add it to a chart

Give it a few days of history to read.

  1. Open a chart with minute bars. Load at least 10 to 20 days of history, so the higher timeframes it reads are filled in.
  2. Right-click the chart → Indicators…
  3. Pick PFX HTF → Add → OK.
The Output window prints a line like this:
PFX HTF 1.04: 8 added series bias3 htf

The words after the number can differ with your settings. That's fine.

NinjaScript Output
PFX HTF 1.04: 8 added series bias3 htf
HTF loaded on your chart
Nothing to switch on. Alerts and drawing work straight away. Telegram is off and sends nothing unless you add your own bot token.
Not seeing it?

PFX HTF isn't in the list. The import in step 2 didn't finish. Restart NinjaTrader and try the import again.

It draws nothing. Check the chart uses minute bars and has 10 to 20 days loaded. Open New → NinjaScript Output and read the PFX HTF lines.

"expected 9 data series". Copy that line and send it to us.

4

Load a template

Optional. One for Micro Gold, one for Micro Nasdaq.

  1. Copy HTF MGC 3m FINAL.xml or HTF MNQ 3m FINAL.xml (from the templates folder) into this folder. Make the PFXHTF folder if it's not there:
    Documents\NinjaTrader 8\templates\Indicator\PFXHTF
  2. In the indicator window, bottom-left: Template → Load, then pick the one for your market.

Settings loaded
A starting point, not a promise. These settings came from optimisation on past data, on 3-minute charts. They switch the forward-test log on, because that's how we use them: untick Write the forward-test ledger (group 10) if you don't want the file.
Not seeing it?

The template isn't in the list. Check the folder name is exactly PFXHTF and that the file is inside it, then reopen the indicator window.

I trade something else. Skip this step. The built-in settings work on any minute chart. Set the Minimum stop distance (group 3) in ticks for your instrument.

5

Read what it draws

Five things to know.

  • Gap frame: a higher-timeframe gap the model is watching. The dashed line is its middle.
  • Entry, stop, target lines: a signal. Price came back into the gap and a candle closed back out.
  • ChoCH / BOS label: structure has changed / continued. Context for you and the level filter.
  • Result tag: how a finished signal ended.
  • Panel: status, bias per timeframe, the current setup.

Everything in the dialog is explained. SETTINGS.html in your pack covers all 89 settings. Distances in ticks are per instrument: on MGC one tick is 0.10, which is $1.00.
Not seeing it?

I see no signals. Signals are rare by design: it waits for a clean gap on the higher timeframe. Levels and context still draw while it waits.

"signal skipped - stop distance … is under the … -tick minimum". The stop was smaller than your Minimum stop distance setting, so HTF skipped it. Change the setting if that's not what you want.

6

Wait for your first alert

Leave the chart open. HTF does the watching.

  1. Keep the chart open on a Sim account during market hours.
  2. An alert fires on every new signal. It's on by default (group 8 · Alerts).
  3. Look at the levels yourself. You decide. HTF never places a trade.
Optional log. The forward-test ledger is off on a fresh chart. Switch it on to save every signal and its result to a CSV file in Documents\NinjaTrader 8\PFX\.
Not seeing it?

No alert yet. That's normal until a signal forms. Alerts only fire on live bars, never on history.

The alert has no sound. Check the sound file in group 8 · Alerts and your NinjaTrader sound settings.

Your safety nets

Three ways to quiet it.Always available.

HTF can't trade, so nothing here is an emergency. These just make it go quiet. Press the switch to see what turning alerts off does.

1

Remove it from the chart

Right-click the chart → Indicators → select PFX HTF → Remove. Everything it drew goes away.

2

Telegram stays off

Telegram sends nothing unless you add your own bot token. If you ever do, don't share a template afterwards: NinjaTrader saves the token in plain text.

3

The alert switch

Untick Fire an alert on every signal (group 8 · Alerts). No pop-ups, no sound. The gaps and levels still draw.

Alerts off. The gaps and levels still draw on the chart.

Before you trade what it shows

HTF draws a model, not a promise. Its templates came from past data. Watch it on Sim first, size your own risk, and make every decision yourself.
