Good to know.
How is the position size worked out?
Risk money ÷ (stop distance × value of a 1.0 price move for one lot, in your account currency). The answer is rounded DOWN to your broker's lot step, so it never risks more than you set, unless even the minimum lot does, which the calculator tells you.
What is a pip on gold (XAUUSD)?
Brokers differ. Gold is usually quoted to 2 decimals, so 1 point is $0.01 of price. Here 1 pip is $0.10 (10 points), and a $1.00 move is 100 points. With 100 oz per lot, a $1.00 move is $100 per lot. You can enter the stop as pips, points or plain price distance to avoid any mix-up.
Why does it warn about the minimum lot?
On a small account with a wide stop, even 0.01 lots (or 1 futures contract) can lose more than your risk %. The calculator shows how much that smallest size would really risk, so you can see it before you trade.
Which futures are included?
MNQ, NQ, MES, ES, MYM, YM, M2K, RTY, MGC, GC, MCL and CL, with CME tick sizes and tick values. MNQ is $0.50 a tick ($2 a point), NQ $5 a tick, MES $1.25, ES $12.50, MGC $1, GC $10, MCL $1, CL $10.
How does the consistency rule calculator work?
Many prop firms say your best day may be at most a set % of your total profit (often 20 to 50%). Enter your total profit, best day and the %: it shows whether the rule is met, how much more profit is needed with no day above your best, and the largest single day that keeps it met. It is arithmetic on your numbers; your firm's dashboard is the final word.
How is risk of ruin calculated?
By simulation: 10,000 runs of random trades with your win rate, average win and loss in R, and risk per trade, counting how often the balance falls to your loss limit (for example a 10% prop max loss) before reaching a target. It is a model: real trading has streaks, costs and changing size.
Is anything I type saved?
No. The calculators run in your browser and nothing you type is sent or stored. The page uses no cookies. Signed in to the free journal, the risk-of-ruin calculator can fill your win rate and R from your own trades, and only you see that.
