What are the forex market hours?
Forex trades from Sunday 17:00 to Friday 17:00 New York time. Here the four main sessions are Sydney 07:00 to 16:00, Tokyo 09:00 to 18:00, London 08:00 to 17:00 and New York 08:00 to 17:00, each in its own city's local time, then shown in yours.
When do London and New York overlap?
Usually 13:00 to 17:00 UK time (12:00 to 16:00 UTC in summer, 13:00 to 17:00 UTC in winter). For a few weeks in March and in late October to early November the UK and US change their clocks on different dates, so the overlap is an hour longer. The clock follows both countries' changes for you.
When does the futures trading day start?
CME Globex futures (ES, NQ, MES, MNQ, GC, CL and more) run from 17:00 to 16:00 Chicago time the next day, Sunday to Friday, with a one-hour break at 16:00. Trades after 17:00 Chicago count towards the next day's date, which is how many futures prop firms count a day too.
Which times does the page use?
Your browser's time zone, worked out on your own device and never sent or stored. Signed in to the free journal, it uses the time zone in your Settings instead.
Where do the news dates come from?
Each source is named and linked under the calendar. Central-bank rate decisions come from each bank's own published schedule, and US CPI and jobs dates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Dates can move, so the source is always the final word.
Does the calendar tell me when to trade?
No. It shows when scheduled news and sessions happen. What you do around them is your decision; many prop firms have their own news rules, so check yours.
